Windwitch is the second book in the Witchlands series which features Merik, the secondary male lead, as the main character, and his sister Vivia, who undergoes a lot of character development throughout the book. Readers also become better acquainted with Empress Vaness, Safi, Iz, and Aeduan. The novel uses miscommunication as a plot device, and the story twists are hit or miss for some readers. Some of the themes from Truthwitch are also carried over and matured in this second book. The quality of myth-building is one of its high points, while the same cannot be said about the handling of the only trans character, Cam. The writing could be improved overall according to some readers, and there is a lot of action to keep readers engaged. Some readers may find the jumping from one POV to another annoying, but the romance and deep emotional connections have improved for others. The story comes together in Bloodwitch, the official sequel to Windwitch, which has a lot of great payoff scenes. The series has received recommendations for exciting action, amazing characters, and good pacing. Overall, the reception of the Windwitch is mixed, and below are some of the key pros and cons that have been highlighted by readers:
