The book features a great twist and turns as Stevie and her friends get into mischief, blowing the lid off the events that have been occurring at the school. The atmosphere and little nuances make it an enjoyable read, great for anyone who enjoys cold case or who done it Christie and Holmes style mysteries. One of the things that stand out in this book is the inclusivity of the diverse characters. Stevie, her best friend Janelle and Janelle's partner Vi, are all unique in their own ways but never made the focus of the book except for adding depth to their personalities. The book is appropriately written for early teens without any explicit sexual scenes. The mystery series is set in a residential co-ed high school in the Vermont mountains, spanning between the 1930s and present day.
